One of the most requested features for 001 Game Creator is finally arriving.
Video playback support is now rolling out in the latest 001 Game Creator beta, enabling developers to integrate video directly into their games. Cinematic cutscenes and animated intros… this long-awaited feature opens up entirely new possibilities for storytelling and presentation.
The 001 Game Creator beta is currently available to Insiders and Open Dev Kit subscribers, giving our community early access to upcoming features while helping us gather valuable feedback.
Alongside this milestone, we’re also preparing the next major step for Open Dev Kit: Android support. Testing for Android builds will begin soon, and we’re actively looking for testers to help us ensure everything runs smoothly across devices.

Major Feature: Video Playback Support
We’re so excited to introduce a major new capability for 001 Game Creator, and Insiders will be the first to try it out!
Starting with Insider Silver tier and above or for Open Dev Kit subscribers, supporters will now gain access to video playback support in 001 Game Creator. This long-awaited feature opens the door to a wide range of possibilities, like in-game cutscenes and cinematic storytelling, and more immersive experiences overall.
The system supports several widely used video formats, including:
- .MP4 (MPEG-4)
- .AVI (Audio Video Interleave)
- .MKV (Matroska)
- .WEBM (WebM)
- .MOV (QuickTime / MPEG-4)
This beta feature is currently Windows-only, with additional platform support planned as development continues.

Our most recent update focused on polishing the overall ecosystem around 001 Game Creator and Open Dev Kit.
The Open Dev Kit website recently received a visual and structural refresh, giving it a cleaner, more modern look while making it easier to explore features, updates, and documentation.
We also introduced a new 001 Game Creator workspace look. The refreshed interface reflects the direction we’re heading with the our products in general: clearer organization, improved usability, and better integration with the growing Open Dev Kit ecosystem.
Additionally, recent updates introduced Windows gamepad vibration support, adding improved feedback and immersion for games using controller input.
Together, these improvements help make the entire development environment smoother and easier to work with for both new and experienced creators.
